| Maggie and Hunny: a bonded pair (September 2000) |
Brian and I met in Lancashire, UK. He knew I was a bunny-mom then. When I returned to the States, my son, Phil, and I rescued
Heatherington, then Hunny, and then Maggie.
All of these bunnies now thrive in the fabled Meadow Beyond the Rainbow Bridge. Heatherington blazed
the way to Rainbow Bridge, that special place where bunnies go to await their owners' crossing from this
world into the next, shortly after Brian arrived in New Jersey in March of 2000. Maggie, much to everyone's sorrow, followed
him there just after our wedding in September of the same year.
The reason why we chose to have Maggie and Hunny take part in our wedding wasn't "just to have bunnies" there,
but because the bunnies were devoted to each other. For Brian and me they became a symbol of the selfless nature of true love.
Maggie groomed Hunny endlessly. His coat sparkled. He always allowed her to be first at the food bowl. They slept cuddled
together, nose to nose; Hunny's explorations of other rooms always included rapid runs back to make sure Maggie was all right
while he'd been gone. When she passed over the Bridge, he was devastated. For three days, he refused
all food. Finally, he crept to my side, sighed, and shoved his little face into my hand, asking to be petted.

Hunny's Prayer
In times to come,I know I'll see
Far up upon the ridge,
A sparkling sight, A thing of Joy
We call the Rainbow Bridge.
I'll leave behind my Hoomins,
My warren buddies too,
and all the things from this life
for the joys of finding you.
For all the Bunnies come here
when their time on Earth is done,
to find again their special Mates
and Frolic in the sun.
Oh, Maggie I have missed you,
You were my one desire,
No other Bunny meant so much,
No one could match your fire.
I know my Hoomins will be sad,
When my time is here,
but for me it will be Heaven,
Cos I love and miss you dear.
And all the other bunnies
that passed away with you,
Alla us together,
in Gods Great Warren too.
I know that we'll be happy,
Forever having Fun,
Alla us Together,
Bunnies playing in the Sun.
So please don't mourn me when I leave,
I know you love me Mom,
But think instead of me and Her,
Bunnies playing, in the sun.
